Why HELP-Democracy in Haiti?
We Haitians living abroad are concerned about this untold civilian war which has been devastating our homeland. We know that it is neither a security nor a humanitarian crisis. It is a war conflict that has been going on since early 2000’s. Therefore, as Haitians who have either served or being current service members and officers in multiple armed forces in the world, we have taken the initiative to constitute an Haitian Expatriates’ Legions for Peace and Democracy in Haiti. We are ready to be members of a well-regulated armed forces that can be incorporated into the Haitian Armed Forces to be deployed in Haiti instead of a UN or US coalition.
From flagrant remark of failure
Previous missions to Haiti have failed over and over. Haitians have been suffering from vestiges of recent military operation that lead to war crimes, rapes, diseases, humiliations, human right violations, etc. Moreover, with a growing contestation against foreign military intervention in Haiti, we have realized that Haitians living abroad can contribute to new era of peace in Haiti.
Being proud of our culture and history, we Haitian veterans or active members from foreign armies are ready to make this ultimate sacrifice for our motherland. As a Haitian Soldier by blood, we have been called to respond to this disaster that strikes home. It is time to also answer the call of our country because Haiti needs us no matter where we are around the world. Haiti needs all of us. Indeed, veteransforhaiti.org is there to spread this message all over the world for our unique dual mission as Haitian nationals is to be members of the Haitian Expatriates’ Legions for Peace and Democracy in Haiti (HELP-Democracy in Haiti).
