The enlistment process for the Haitian Expatriates’ Legions for Peace and Democracy (HELP-Democracy) involves several steps, and it is important to understand the requirements and procedures before starting the process. Here is an overview of the enlistment process:

  1. Eligibility: To be eligible to enlist in the HELP-Democracy, you must be a Haitian citizen or a Haitian descendant, between the ages of 18 and 55, and meet the physical, educational, and moral requirements. You should also have a valid Haitian passport and be willing to serve a minimum of 3 years.
  2. Information session: The first step is to attend an information session, which provides an overview of the requirements and benefits of serving in the HELP-Democracy. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the enlistment process.
  3. Pre-screening: The pre-screening process involves a series of tests to determine your physical and mental fitness for military service. These tests include medical exams, physical fitness tests, and psychological evaluations.
  4. Selection: The selection process involves a thorough review of your application, pre-screening results, and a personal interview. The HELP-Democracy selection committee will make the final decision on whether to accept or reject your application.
  5. Basic training: If you are accepted into the HELP-Democracy, you will attend basic training, which lasts approximately 16 weeks. Basic training is designed to prepare you for military service and includes physical fitness training, weapons training, and classroom instruction.
  6. Specialty training: After completing basic training, you may attend specialty training to learn specialized skills, such as medical or technical skills, depending on your role in the HELP-Democracy.
  7. Deployment: Once you have completed your training, you will be deployed to serve in Haiti depending on the needs of the HELP-Democracy.
