Dear Haitian soldiers and veterans from foreign armies,

Haiti urgently needs you now. As the founders of the Veterans for Haiti Organization, we are reaching out to you today to talk about a cause that is deeply rooted in the history of Haiti: peace and democracy. As you know, Haiti has a long-standing tradition of standing up for justice and human rights, dating back to our independence in 1804.

Since then, we have been at the forefront of global efforts to help those in need. For example, during World War II, Haiti opened its doors to Jewish refugees, providing them with a safe haven from persecution. Similarly, when Israel faced war and instability in the late 1960s and early 1970s, Haiti was one of the few countries to offer support and assistance. In recent times, we have also welcomed refugees from Arab nations like Syria and Lebanon who were fleeing from conflicts and persecutions.

We have always been a nation that believes in standing up for the oppressed and marginalized, regardless of their nationality or religion. We are proud of our history of welcoming and helping those in need, and we believe that now, more than ever, Haiti needs our help.

Our country is currently facing significant challenges, including political instability, poverty, and natural disasters. Many Haitians have been forced to flee their homes and seek refuge elsewhere, while others have been left behind to face the harsh realities of everyday life.

One of our most famous leaders, Jean Jacques Dessalines, was known for his commitment to freeing slaves and bringing them to Haiti. He paid boat captains to bring slaves to freedom in Haiti, and his efforts helped to build a nation that was founded on the principles of freedom and equality for all.

Today, we are calling on you, Haitian soldiers and veterans from foreign armies, to join us in our fight for peace and democracy in Haiti. We need your skills, your experience, and your dedication to help us build a better future for our country and our people.

You will have the opportunity to participate in three types of operations: humanitarian operations, peacekeeping missions, and combat missions. As we all know, Haiti has been plagued by poverty, natural disasters, and political instability. Our people need help, and we need people like you to lend your expertise and support to make a difference.

In humanitarian operations, you will work to provide aid and assistance to those who need it most. This may involve delivering food and supplies to remote areas, setting up medical clinics, or helping to rebuild homes and infrastructure. Your skills and experience will be invaluable in ensuring that we are able to help as many people as possible.

Peacekeeping missions will be another important aspect of our operations. We believe that peace is the foundation of a stable and prosperous society, and we need your help to achieve it. As part of our peacekeeping efforts, you may be called upon to help disarm armed groups, protect civilians, and facilitate dialogue and negotiations between conflicting parties.

Finally, there may be times when we need to engage in combat missions to protect our people and our nation. We believe that every person has the right to live in safety and security, and we will not hesitate to defend ourselves against those who seek to harm us. Your combat experience and training will be vital in ensuring that we are able to protect our people and our nation from harm.

We understand that you may have concerns about returning or going to Haiti, given the current political and social climate. But we want you to know that we will do everything in our power to ensure your safety and security. Haiti is a nation that has always been willing to welcome and embrace those who share our values and beliefs, and we believe that you have a vital role to play in our nation’s future.

In closing, I want to leave you with the words of one of Haiti’s most famous leaders, Toussaint Louverture: “We have dared to be free. Let us dare to be so by ourselves and for ourselves.” Let us dare to be free, together, and to build a brighter future for Haiti and for all those who call it home. I also want to remind you of the legacy of Jean Jacques Dessalines, who believed in the power of freedom and equality. Let us continue to honor his legacy by standing up for justice and human rights in Haiti, and by working together to build a brighter future for all.

Thank you for your service, and for your consideration.

    Sincerely,

    HELP-Democracy in Haiti
